Terms and Conditions for DetectPro

1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the DetectPro mobile and desktop application ("the App"), developed and published by PageTech ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
DetectPro is a metal detecting companion application that allows you to:
- Record and organise metal detecting finds with GPS locations
- Take and store photographs of finds
- View finds on interactive maps with custom tile sources and overlays
- Record detecting routes
- Generate reports and print QR code labels
- Optionally sync data to Google Drive
- Use a companion Apple Watch app (iOS only)
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the App.
4. User Accounts
DetectPro does not require you to create a user account. No username or password is needed. If you choose to enable cloud sync, you will authenticate with your own Google account, which is governed by Google's own terms of service.
5. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases
5.1 Free and Premium Features
The App offers both free features and premium features that require a paid subscription or one-time purchase.
5.2 Subscription Plans
Premium access is available through the following plans:
- Monthly Subscription — recurring monthly payment
- Annual Subscription — recurring annual payment
- Lifetime Purchase — one-time payment for permanent access
Prices are displayed in your local currency within the App and may vary by region. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time; however, any changes will not affect active subscriptions until their next renewal.
5.3 Payment and Billing
- All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store ("the Stores").
- Payment is charged to your Store account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions through your Store account settings.
5.4 Free Trials
If a free trial is offered, it will convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
5.5 Refunds
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund:

5.6 Subscription Management
Subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat on our behalf. RevenueCat processes only anonymous identifiers and purchase receipts — it does not access your finds, photos, location data, or any personal content within the App.
6. User Data and Content
6.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all data you create within the App, including find records, photographs, descriptions, routes, and any other content.
6.2 Local Storage
All your data is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your data and do not store it on our servers.
6.3 Cloud Sync
If you choose to enable cloud sync, your data is uploaded to a dedicated folder in your personal Google Drive account. You are responsible for managing access to your Google Drive. We do not access, read, or store your synced data.
6.4 Data Loss
While we take reasonable care to ensure the App functions correctly, we are not responsible for data loss caused by:
- Device failure, loss, or theft
- Operating system updates or corruption
- Uninstalling the App without backing up data
- Third-party cloud service outages (e.g., Google Drive)
We strongly recommend enabling cloud sync or regularly exporting your data as a backup.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Attempt to circumvent subscription or premium feature restrictions
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Distribute or share the App outside of official app stores
- Use the App to infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
8. Metal Detecting — Legal Responsibility
8.1 Compliance with Laws
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your metal detecting activities comply with all applicable local, regional, and national laws. This includes but is not limited to:
- Obtaining landowner permission before detecting
- Complying with heritage and antiquities legislation (e.g., the Treasure Act 1996 in England and Wales)
- Reporting finds as required by law (e.g., to the Portable Antiquities Scheme or Treasure Valuation Committee)
- Respecting protected sites, scheduled monuments, and areas where detecting is prohibited
8.2 No Legal Advice
The App does not provide legal advice. Features such as PAS reference fields or historical period classifications are provided as organisational tools and do not constitute guidance on your reporting obligations.
8.3 Location Accuracy
GPS accuracy varies depending on your device, environment, and satellite conditions. Recorded coordinates are approximate and should not be relied upon as precision survey data.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 App Ownership
The App, including its code, design, graphics, user interface, and documentation, is owned by PageTech and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.
9.2 Licence
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on devices you own, subject to these Terms and the terms of the relevant app store.
9.3 Map Data
Map tiles displayed in the App are provided by third parties (Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, MapTiler, or custom user-configured sources). These are subject to their own terms and licences. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with the terms of any custom tile sources you configure.

11. Disclaimers
11.1 "As Is" Basis
The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11.2 No Guarantee of Availability
We do not guarantee that the App will be available at all times, error-free, or uninterrupted. We may release updates, change features, or discontinue the App at any time.
11.3 Offline Functionality
The App is designed to work primarily offline. However, certain features (cloud sync, map tile loading, subscription verification) require an internet connection.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any loss of data, finds records, or photographs.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PageTech from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your breach of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law while using the App
- Your metal detecting activities
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be communicated by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
- Notifying you within the App for material changes
Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with updated Terms, you should stop using the App.
15. Termination
15.1 By You
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through your app store account.
15.2 By Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms. In such cases, you will not be entitled to a refund for any remaining subscription period.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PageTech regarding the use of the App.
